After a really enjoyable visit to the abbey of San Liberatore, and a very fine picnic, we headed off to find the remains of stone huts used in the past as mountain refuges by shepherds. We thought they were on the far side of Roccamorice, so we took the route from Serramonacesca to Lettomanoppello and then [...] The five of us set off at 10 am, heading to the Majella. We had a plan, and our first stop was The Abbey of Saint Liberatore (L’Abbazia Di San Liberatore), Serramonacesca (PE). This was part of a bigger trip to the mountains but the abbey deserves a special mention.
